Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, writing as Srinivasa, was a poet, novelist, playwright and critic of Kannada literature. He is celebrated as the father of the modern Kannada short story. He received the Jnanpith Award in 1983 for his novel Chikaveera Rajendra.
