Experiment 03 — The 108-character Gita experiment

The Bhagavad Gita, adhyaya by adhyaya

Notebook entry — eighteen adhyayas, taken slowly. The Gita does not hurry; neither do I. Each verse is a controlled compression: a Sanskrit shloka, an English answer, and the discipline of 108 characters. A conversation on duty, doubt and stillness, translated one line at a time.

The Bhagavad Gita is the discourse of Lord Krishna to the warrior Arjuna, spoken on the battlefield of Kurukshetra as the great war of the Mahabharata is about to begin. Eighteen adhyayas, translated one at a time and set beside the Sanskrit verses they come from. 3 of 18 published so far.

108characters
per verse

Every verse is rendered in exactly 108 characters — letters and punctuation, spaces aside. A mala holds 108 beads; here each English line turns once round the Sanskrit shloka it answers, no more and no less.

With your ambiguous words, you are causing confusion in my mind. Tell me the one decisive way by which I can attain the highest good
