Aydakki Lakkamma
Sharana · 12th century · Kannada · 2 translations
Aydakki Lakkamma was a Sharana poet of the twelfth-century vachana movement in Kalyana. With her husband Marayya she kept the vow of aydakki — living only on grain gleaned from the fields. Her vachanas, signed Marayya-priya-Amareshwara-Linga, turn that austerity into a spiritual argument.
